“Impressed” a crooked Korean handwritten letter from the Korean veterans from overseas

【Break News Chilgok, North Gyeongsang Province】 Reporter Lee Seong-hyun = Before Hangeul Day, a crooked handwritten letter written in Korean by 6.25 veterans abroad is giving a calm impression.

According to Chilgok County, Melese Tessema (90), the head of the Ethiopian Korean War Veterans Association, sent a letter of appreciation to the Ethiopian veterans and their families of Chilgok County for the support of quarantine supplies such as masks and hand sanitizers.

Ethiopia uses Amharic and English as their official languages.

He is fluent in English and wrote a letter in Korean to convey his gratitude to all the people of Korea, including Chilgok-gun.

This is because, after visiting Korea several times, some Koreans, including the elderly, were aware that they were not used to using English.

Chairman Melese Thesema first wrote a thank-you letter in English and requested that Korean volunteers working in the area translate it into Korean.

Chairman Melese Thesema, who received the translated text from the volunteers in Korean, went to write a letter with all his heart, as if drawing a picture.

He said, “Korea is another country. I would like to express my gratitude to all the citizens of the Republic of Korea, including Chilgok County, Chilgok County, and Chilgok County, who remembered the sacrifices of the veterans and helped overcome Corona 19.”

There were some typos in the letter written by Chairman Melese Thesema, but the general public can understand it.

His handwritten letter was delivered to Chilgok-gun on the 8th through SNS.

Regarding the impression of writing the Hangul letter, he said, "I don't know the meaning, but it is not difficult to write it because the shape of the Hangul is regular and systematic," he said. "I love Hangeul as much as Korea."

Soon-gi Paik said, “I think more meaningfully because I will receive the written text in Korean ahead of the Hangeul Day. Although it is a crooked writing, it contains a heart and sincerity to love Korea. “We will continue to actively honor the sacrifice and dedication of all veterans, including Ethiopia.”

Meanwhile, Chilgok-gun launched the “6037 Campaign” to prepare 6037 masks to repay the dedication of the 6037 Ethiopian warriors who fought in the Korean War in April.

The campaign launched in Chilgok-gun was resonating across the country, collecting 30,000 copies, five times the target amount, in two months and delivering it to the Ethiopian Embassy in Korea in June. The second collection of over 14,000 masks is planned to be delivered through the embassy and support group.
