=초록우산 어린이재단 경북아동옹호센터(소장 정인숙, 이하 ‘경북아동옹호센터’)는 경상북도 아동 주거권 보장을 위해 오는 14일 토론회를 개최한다고 12일 밝혔다.

 

이번 토론회는 초록우산 어린이재단과 경상북도 배진석 도의원의 공동 주최로 코로나19 상황에 따라 대면 참석을 최소화하는 차원에서 유튜브로 생중계된다.

 

토론회를 통해 경북아동옹호센터와 한동대학교 공동 연구한 ‘경상북도 아동주거빈곤 실태조사’ 결과를 공유하고, 아동 주거권 보장을 위한 정책적, 실천적인 방안을 모색한다.

 

경북아동옹호센터가 실시한 경상북도 아동주거빈곤 실태 조사 결과에 따르면, 경상북도 아동 9.6%(46,141명)가 주거빈곤을 경험했으며, 10명 중 1명은 주거빈곤으로 열악한 환경속에서 성장하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

 

주거는 아동의 건강과 안녕에 필수적이며, 자아존중감, 주관적 행복감, 유대감,학업성취, 가족갈등, 건강 등 아동 발달에 전반적으로 큰 영향을 주고 있다.

 

이에 따라 외부 환경으로부터 안정성을위협하는 경북지역의 주거빈곤 아동들이 좀 더 안전하고 쾌적한 주거환경에서 건강하게성장할 수있도록 이들에게 대한관심이 많이 필요하다는 지적이다.

 

정인숙 소장은 “경상북도 아동주거빈곤의 실태에 대해 알리고, 지자체와 아동관련 NGO, 기관 및 단체들과 협력해 아동주거권 보장을 위한 종합적인 대책을 논의하고자 ‘경상북도 아동주거빈곤실태와 아동주거권 보장을 위한 토론회’를 개최하게 되었다”며 “이를 통해 아동이 주거환경 속에서 안전하게 성장할 수 있도록 제도적 정책적 변화를 촉구할 예정”이라고 말했다.
