【브레이크뉴스 포항】오주호 기자=포항청년회의소(포항JC, 회장 최재혁)는 16일 시청 대외협력실에서 동절기를 대비해 취약계층 어르신과 장애인 20세대에 지원할 온수매트(700만원 상당)를 전달했다.

포항청년회의소는 1965년 창립 후 현재 124명의 회원이 활동하며, 지역 내 환경정화활동, 저소득층 지원사업, 코로나19 감염 예방을 위한 마스크 기부 등 ‘나라가 위태로울 때 청년이 나라를 구한다’라는 청년정신으로 지역 내 궂은일을 마다하지 않고 발 벗고 나서고 있다

최근 기후변화에 따른 기상이변으로 겨울철 한파는 사회적 약자인 취약계층 어르신과 장애인들이 더 큰 피해를 입을 가능성이 높아 이에 대한 주의가 필요한 가운데, 포항청년회의소는 이들이 따뜻한 겨울나기에 온수매트가 조금이나마 도움이 되길 바라는 마음으로 전달해 의미를 더했다.

이강덕 포항시장은 “코로나19로 인해 모두가 어려운 가운데 이렇게 취약계층을 위해 난방용품을 지원해줘서 감사하다”며 “어려운 이웃을 도우려는 포항청년회의소의 따뜻한 마음과 지원해준 난방용품이 꼭 필요한 곳에 쓰일 수 있도록 하겠다”고 말했다.
