Gyeongbuk Trade, immune to adverse events such as corona, agricultural special product exports surge!

【Break News, Gyeongbuk】 Reporter Seong-Hyeon Lee = Gyeongsangbuk-do is showing a huge increase in exports by actively utilizing non-face-to-face export consultations with overseas buyers despite difficult export conditions at home and abroad such as Corona 19. It was revealed on the 20th that it was found to be playing a major role in increasing the export of local agricultural products as an export specialized agency.

Until the end of last month, Gyeongbuk Trade's sales amounted to 37.8 billion won, up 27% from 29.7 billion won in the same month last year. Especially, sales in September recorded 5.8 billion won, up 87% from 3.1 billion won in the same month of the previous year. It is expected to achieve 50 billion won in sales for the first time ever since.

As of the end of September, exports of special products such as agriculture, forestry and fishery products as a whole amounted to $6.56 billion, an increase of 3% year-on-year, while exports to Gyeongbuk-do reached $441 million, an increase of 20.7% year-on-year. Exports to Gyeongbuk Trading Co., Ltd. are expected to increase by 30% to 40 million dollars by the end of the year.

It was analyzed that the increase in exports was mainly due to the expansion of exports to the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, and Vietnam through non-face-to-face overseas buyer consultation. In particular, it is evaluated that it has expanded the export of garlic to the US by targeting the gap in the US-China trade dispute, and actively responded to the development of the home-cooked food market, which is growing in demand due to the Corona 19 incident.

Kim Yu-tae, CEO of Gyeongbuk Trade Co., Ltd., said, “We are having a difficult year for both exporters and producers due to the Corona 19 incident this year.” At the same time as reborn as a citizen's enterprise, we will actively expand exports of agricultural products.

In the fourth quarter, Gyeongbuk Tongsang Co., Ltd. plans to focus on exporting fresh fruits such as pears, apples, and grapes, which are representative fruits of the region. It is expected that it will be difficult to secure exports ordered from overseas buyers as domestic prices have risen due to decreased production of apples and pears due to damage from cold damage, but it is planning to strengthen ties with local producer groups to ensure that exports are not disrupted.

In addition, it plans to expand its domestic business, which is 10% of sales, to 20% in the future in order to develop a domestic market for local farmers. To this end, it has signed contracts to supply fresh fruits such as apples and pears to 8 stores of Costco, which are large foreign distribution stores.

Provincial Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, “Even in difficult external export environments, we are trying to solve the difficulties of exporting companies by promoting various export SOS projects such as non-face-to-face export consultations, logistics, and infrastructure support.” In order to expand the export of special products overseas, we plan to continuously promote various distribution and sales businesses such as holding overseas promotion exhibitions in cooperation with Gyeongbuk Trade.”
