More than 20 artifacts from the gold copper festival poured out of the Hwangyongsa Temple in Gyeongju

[Break News Gyeongju] Reporter Park Young-jae = 20 Geumdongje relics were unearthed at the excavation site of Hwangyongsa Temple in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk.

According to the Buddhist Cultural Heritage Research Institute, excavations were conducted at Hwangyongsa Temple from 2018 to this year. Accordingly, the Buddhist Cultural Heritage Research Institute (president Jejeong Monk) will hold a public briefing session on Hwangyongsaji in Gyeongju at 2pm on October 22, 2020 at Hwangyongsa Excavation Site in Hwangyong-dong, Gyeongju-si.

Hwangyongsa Temple in Gyeongju has been probed and excavated over three years from 2018 to this year. This survey is an excavation survey on the western section of the central ministry. As a result of the investigation, many remains, such as corridors, building sites, stone walls, stone columns, and entrances, were identified around the west tower.

As for the relics, two more artifacts were unearthed, including two more artifacts, Geumdong-gwi-myeon, a gold-dong bodang temple, a representative of the gold-dong Buddha statue, a gold-dong lion statue, a gold-dong salary, and a support for the gold-dong chokdae. Became. In particular, the gold dong gwi-myeon of Tujo is similar to the gold dong gwi-myeon identified in the last survey, but the size, beard, and ear shape are slightly different.

The Kumdongbodang party and the base have never been excavated in an excavation until now. This was first identified at Hwangyongsaji, and it is the largest treasure house ever excavated in Korea. Compared to the Goryeo Dynasty Bodang currently owned by Leeum Museum of Art, the Leeum Museum of Art's collection is 73.8 cm, whereas the Geumdong Bodang excavated from Hwang Yongsa Temple is large with only the remaining party cadres and landlords at 110 cm. .

The Daeui-pyeon of the Golden Buddha is more than 30cm in diameter, and it is estimated that it was a large gold-bronze Buddha of about 1m in total proportion.

Two Geumdong Lion statues were excavated. It is about 17cm in size and has a shape to support something by stretching its front and hind legs. It is similar to the items excavated from Bunhwangsa and Yongjangsa, and is believed to have been mainly supporting the Chokdae or Gwangmyeongdae.

In addition, various Geumdongje relics such as Geumdong Yeonbong and Geumdong Chokdae support were identified, showing that the price of Hwang Yongsa Temple at the time of its creation was so high that it could be compared with major temples in Gyeongju.

Since 2013, the Buddhist Cultural Heritage Research Center has been conducting an annual “important site excavation and research project” for (non-designated) abandoned sites nationwide with the support of the Cultural Heritage Administration (Director Jeong Jae-sook). As part of this research project, the survey on Hwangyongsaji in Gyeongju began in 2018 and has been conducting annual surveys on estimated and central ministry until this year.

Hwangyongsa Temple in Gyeongju was founded in the Unified Silla Period, and is located at the bone of Dongdaebongsan Mountain (formerly Eunjeomsan Mountain), which passes from Bomun Complex in Gyeongju to Gampo.

As a result of the investigation so far, it seems that Hwang Yong-sa was built in the Unified Silla Period and continued to prosper until the Joseon Dynasty as a mountain-type Garam, which built a multi-stage stone-built site along the valley and then built buildings on the upper surface.

In the center of the ministry, various remains such as twin towers and geumdangji, corridors and constructions, stone columns, drainage passages, and soseong remains are duplicated. A rare relic has been excavated, and a lot of interest in Hwangyongsa is pouring.

Therefore, Hwangyongsaji in Gyeongju is identified as a relic of intensive metal crafts and construction techniques of the Unified Silla period, and the results of this excavation can be seen as an archaeological feat. In addition, if Hwangyongsaji is designated as a national cultural property, maintained, and restored based on the research results so far, another representative Buddhist cultural relic in the Gyeongju area is expected to be born.
