The'Haeoreum Alliance 3rd Energy Forum' was hosted by the Ulsan Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) 4th Industrial Innovation Research Center.

The Haeoreum Alliance Energy Forum, held at the Hwabaek Convention Center in Gyeongju on the 2nd, is a joint technology research project between six regional universities (Gyeongju Dongguk University, Wideok University, etc.), promoted with the joint support of Gyeongju, Ulsan, Pohang, and KHNP. It was held in Gyeongju following Ulsan and Pohang. It was a place to find ways of change and innovation for the development of the energy industry in the era of the 4th industrial revolution.

On this day, the forum was held with topic presentations and panel discussions on the trend of small reactors as a new future of nuclear power plants, future development directions, digital transformation of nuclear power plants, and development directions of the nuclear environment industry.

Including Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-young, UNIST President Lee Yong-hoon, Dongguk University Gyeongju campus president Lee Young-gyeong, Dongguk University Gyeongju campus president, Jang-Ik Wideok University president, Kim Yun-ho, Han Su-won, technical innovation headquarters, Hwang Il-soon, UNIST professor of nuclear engineering, Chair Professor Dong-seop Kim, UNIST College of Information Bio Convergence, UNIST Information Bio Convergence University president, Bang In-cheol, UNIST Haeoreum Alliance, director of the Nuclear Innovation Center, etc. About 100 people participated in person (on site) or non-face-to-face (online) to share the latest nuclear power plant research trends and hold active discussions.

UNIST President Lee Yong-hoon said, “The Haeoreum alliance of Gyeongju, Ulsan, and Pohang is Korea’s largest manufacturing and export outpost and is the center of the energy industry.” “This forum secures technology and infrastructure to lead Korea’s future energy industry. It has great meaning as a venue for active discussion and cooperation.”

Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-young said, “The development of a new paradigm technology that can further improve the stability and economics of a small nuclear reactor is the crisis and opportunity facing the nuclear industry as all experts from industry, academia, and research institutes become one destined community. "It depends on how you respond to the problem," he said. "I hope today the forum will be a meaningful place for the digital transformation of nuclear power and the future development of the nuclear environment industry."
