Winter is approaching, where a cold breeze blows without fail and makes the whole body cry. This winter, due to corona, it is expected that there will be more indoor activities in winter than any other year. If you know and use it, it is a thankful fire, but if you do not know it, it becomes a scary and dangerous fire.

As the winter season approaches, more and more households use heating supplies such as boilers and electric heaters in each household, and at the same time, many fires occur in ordinary houses due to careless handling. When investigating the cause of fire in winter housing fires, overheating of heaters accounts for a large part. Therefore, for safe wintering, we would like to ask the following about how to safely use and prevent fires for the three most frequently used winter items (electric heater pads, electric heating wires, firewood boilers).

First, in the case of electric pads, when not in use for a long period of time other than in winter, many people fold the electric pads in several layers and store them. In this case, the heat wire inside the electric pad is cut off and a short circuit is likely to occur. In addition, if a blanket or latex product is used on an electric pad for a long time, there is a risk of ignition due to heat. As a precaution, make sure that the electric pad is a product with safety certification (KC mark), and recently released products have thermostats or automatic shut-off devices, but disconnect the plug when not in use. And if it is to be stored for a long time, it is possible to use the product long and safe to store it in a rolled up rather than folded manner.

Second, although it is not common in families currently living in apartments, many households still use firewood boilers in rural areas. In the case of firewood boilers, there are frequent cases of fire due to fire due to careless handling, or fire due to overheating of the flue used for a long time. In the case of firewood boilers, combustibles should not be placed within 2m of the surrounding area, and proper fuel input should be observed to prevent radiant heat due to overheating. In addition, since it may ignite combustibles due to fire, the inlet is always closed after fuel is injected, and a fire extinguisher is placed around the boiler. Lastly, the flue should be used as a non-combustible material, and it should be periodically cleaned once a month to prevent ash from accumulating inside. It is recommended to use a flue with a double outlet at the end of the flue.

Third, in the case of electric heating wires, they are also common electrical products installed in rural areas to prevent freezing of water pipes or meters in winter, or to increase the heat insulation effect in green houses for agriculture. In the case of electric heating wires, when used multiple times, the heat differs by more than 10℃, and if an insulating material is applied to it, the temperature rises to 50℃ in no time. . For electric heating wires, products that have been certified by KC should be used, and do not give shocks to the heating wires or use overlapping heating wires. Heat wires that have passed their useful life are replaced regularly, and it is recommended not to place dehydrated combustibles around the heat wires.

Finally, when reusing heating supplies, always check before use, remove dust, and check for damaged or peeled wires. Heating supplies used in homes in winter make our lives warm, but can also be a terrifying disaster that takes the life and property of our homes through brief carelessness. If you pay a little attention to each household and understand the safety rules for fire prevention, you will be able to reduce the risk of fire and spend a warm and safe winter. safety! It is a word that cannot be overemphasized. Let's live, check, prevent and live for a warm and healthy winter.
