A veteran who practiced sharing on the occasion of the “10th anniversary of the bombing of Yeonpyeong Island”
On the 23rd, Chilgok County announced that Kwon Jun-hwan (48), the reserve squad leader of the 50th Army Division, had deposited 100 hot packs to deliver them to the descendants of the Ethiopian 6.25 veterans living in Korea.
The Yeonpyeong Island Artillery Provocation is an incident in which North Korea indiscriminately fired 170 rounds of firearms on Yeonpyeong Island by surprise during a K-9 self-propelled artillery maritime shooting training of the Marine Corps Yeonpyeong Unit on November 23, 2010.
At the time of the attack on Yeonpyeong Island, Company Commander Kwon Jun-hwan quickly evacuated members of the radar base who were hit by enemy shells and restored the communication network urgently even in the event of a shell explosion, enabling counter-fire.
He practiced sharing in order to participate in the “Santa Came in 70 Years” campaign to help descendants of Ethiopian veterans organized by Paik Seon-ki Chilgok County.
Santa, who has been visiting for the first time in 70 years, is an event that delivers a package of Christmas gifts to the families of Ethiopian veterans who live in Korea.
The unique relationship between Captain Kwon and Chilgok-gun began when they participated in an event inviting eight heroes to protect Korea for 70 years after the Korean War to awaken the precious sacrifices of veterans held by Chilgok-gun in June.
He also deposited 500 KF-94 masks to Chilgok County in September for Ethiopian veterans suffering from Corona 19.
"For those from Africa who are accustomed to the warm climate, it will be difficult to endure the harsh winter cold in Korea," said General General Kwon.
Soon-gi Paik, Chief of Chilgok County, said, “I am grateful that the veterans practiced sharing in order to raise another veteran. We will continue to inform the veterans of their sacrifice and dedication and make more efforts in the veterans' work for them.”
