Daegu Health University, Awarded “Grand Prize” in Capstone Design Team Project Contest by Ministry of Education

【Break News Daegu】 Reporter Seong-Hyeon Lee = Daegu Health University (President Nam-hee Nam), the ET team that participated in the Capstone Design Team Project Contest conducted by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Research Foundation as part of the LINC+ project, selected the grand prize as a digital reference It was announced on the 30th that it was awarded.

This contest is designed to cultivate talents who have developed field adaptability and problem-solving skills. Participating students exhibited a comprehensive plan, design, and production by showing creativity and cooperation in order to solve the problems of the industry (social). A total of 221 entries were received, and a total of 35 excellent works were selected by comprehensively evaluating completeness, creativity, excellence, products and possibilities.

The ET teams that were honored with the grand prize were Kim Jin-hoon (3rd grade in dental engineering), Kim Jin-moo (3rd grade in dental engineering), Kim Byeong-moon (3rd grade in dental engineering), Kim Hyun-muk (3rd grade in dental engineering), Nam Ro-min (3rd grade in dental engineering), and Moon Soo-in (2nd grade in dental hygiene). ), Jeong Chae-young (2nd grade in the Department of Dental Hygiene), and two supervisors, including Professor Eun-jin Jang of the Dental Engineering Department and Professor Seong-mi Choi of the Dental Hygiene Department.

The Digital Reference, which was submitted by the E.T team, was conceived to reduce the discomfort of the dental clinic among the elderly by reducing the process of making dentures.

The digital reference is a device that obtains all the information necessary for denture fabrication from the patient's mouth and sends it directly to the laboratory. This device measures the height after placing it between the remaining gums and the gums of a patient without teeth, draws a baseline for selecting the tooth size using the display located in front, and sends the aggregated information to CAD/CAM and sends it to a 3D printer. Production is possible.

Existing denture production took at least 1 to 2 weeks, and in order to receive a completed denture, you had to visit at least five times, but you can receive the completed denture at the next visit after the first visit to Digital Reference. This device is expected to solve the difficulties and discomfort of the elderly who are difficult to visit the hospital due to Corona 19 and old age, and to increase patient satisfaction by increasing the period of wearing dentures.

Kim Jin-hoon (26), the team's representative, said, “Through this contest, it was an opportunity to vividly see and learn the courses learned in textbooks in the field, exchange opinions with team members, and grow into a professional professional in the problem solving process.” As a preliminary dental technician and dental hygienist, it was more meaningful to be able to contribute to social development.”

I will fully support students' major research for the development of medical and industrial fields.”

Meanwhile, the contest awards ceremony is scheduled to be held through the opening ceremony of the “2020 Industry-Academic Cooperation Expo” on the 2nd of next month, and the winning works can be viewed at the online exhibition hall (uicexpo.org) during the expo period. In the capstone design competition, the auction market is also held in which the expo participating companies directly invest in the best works to evaluate the level of commercialization or commercialization of the work. The Ministry of Education said that it plans to support companies that can lead to commercialization if they have an actual intention to invest.
