【브레이크뉴스 경북 구미】이성현 기자=금오공과대학교는 지난 8일 금오공대 산학협력관에서‘Grand ICT 연구센터’사업 발대식을 개최했다고 9일 밝혔다.

이날 발대식에는 이상철 총장을 비롯해 장세용 구미시장, 김영식 국회의원, 김재상 구미시의회의장, 조원석 LGU+ 전무 등이 참석했다. 구자근 국회의원과 장석영 과기정통부 2차관, 석제범 정보통신기획평가원장은 영상을 통해 사업 시작을 축하했다.

과학기술정보통신부 산하 정보통신기획평가원(IITP)에서 주관하는 Grand ICT 연구센터 사업은 오는 2027년까지 8년간 진행된다. 금오공대 ICT융합특성화연구센터(센터장 김동성)는 동북권(강원·대구·경북권) 거점연구센터로서 민·군 ICT 지능화융합 분야의 석·박사급 고급 인재를 양성한다.

또한 LGU+를 비롯해 LIG넥스원, LIG시스템, 한화시스템 등 다양한 기업과의 공동 연구, 재직자 석사과정 운영을 통해 기술 역량 강화와 인력 양성을 함께 추진한다는 계획이다.

현재 지역 기업의 재직자 석사과정을 운영하며 장학금 혜택(등록금의 80%) 등으로 재직자의 부담을 줄이고 해당 기업과의 산학협력을 통해 네트워크를 강화하고 있다.

김동성 금오공대 ICT융합특성화연구센터장은 “4차 산업혁명을 이끌 핵심적인 기술 가운데 민·군 ICT 지능화융합 분야의 혁신 교육과 연구로 지역 ICT를 선도할 혁신 인재를 양성할 것”이라며, “대학의 ICT 및 지능화 기술역량을 바탕으로 지역 중소·중견 기업과의 연계를 강화해 동북권 거점연구센터로서 역할을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 디지털 뉴딜 사업의 일환으로 실시된 5G(28GHz) 정부업무망 모바일 레퍼런스 실증사업의 홍보관 개관식이 이날 발대식과 함께 열렸다. 금오공대는 Grand ICT 연구센터 사업에 참여하는 LGU+와의 협력을 통해 5G 스마트캠퍼스 구축과 다양한 미래교육 모델에 대한 실증을 진행할 계획이다.
