주낙영 경주시장 ‘올해의 지방자치 CEO’ 선정

【브레이크뉴스 경주】박영재 기자=경주시가 한국공공자치연구원 주관 '2020년 올해의 지방자치 최고경영자(CEO)'로 주낙영 시장이 선정됐다고 18일 밝혔다.

 

'올해의 지방자치 CEO'는 (사)한국공공자치연구원이 지난 2012년부터 지방자치행정에 탁월한 성과를 거둔 자치단체장에게 수상하는 상이다.

 

전국 지자체로부터 각 부문별 수상 후보자를 추천받아 지방자치학계 전문가 50명이 후보자를 투표로 선정한 후 전국 지자체 부단체장‧기획부서장 및 공무원과 지역정책연구 포럼 회원 등 1400여 명으로 구성된 투표인단이 수상자를 뽑는다.

 

올해는 대도시 시장, 중소도시 시장, 군수, 구청장 등 4개 부문에서 각 1명을 뽑았는데, 주낙영 시장은 전국 30만명 미만 중소도시 시장 부문에서 최종 수상자로 선정됐다.

 

주낙영 시장은 시민의 오랜 숙원이었던 도심지 고도 제한을 완화하고 국책사업으로 확정된 혁신원자력연구단지를 경주에 유치한 점을 높이 평가 받았다.

 

또 1979년 보문관광단지 개발 당시 강제로 이주 당한 한센인 마을인 ‘희망농원’의 환경개선을 위해 노력한 점도 높은 점수를 받았다.

 

주낙영 시장은 “25만 경주시민과 함께 협력해 이뤄낸 성과”라며 “경제와 민생 어느 것 하나 소홀함 없이 모두가 잘사는 경주가 될 수 있도록 앞으로도 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

 

한편 2020 올해의 지방자치 CEO 시상식은 오는 23일 서울공군회관에서 열리는 ‘제195회 지역정책연구포럼’에서 개최될 예정이다.

After receiving nominations from local governments across the country, 50 experts in local governments select the candidates by voting, and a group of voters consisting of 1,400 people including the heads of local governments, heads of planning departments, public officials and members of the Regional Policy Research Forum select the winners.

 

This year, one person was selected from each of the four categories: the mayor of the metropolitan city, the mayor of small and medium-sized cities, the head of the county, and the mayor of the district.

Mayor Nak-young Joo was highly praised for easing the urban altitude restriction, which was a long-awaited citizen, and attracting the innovative nuclear research complex confirmed as a national project to Gyeongju.

 

In addition, efforts to improve the environment of “Hope Farm”, a village of Hansen people who were forcibly relocated during the development of the Bomun Tourist Complex in 1979, received high marks.
