【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=대구시교육청(교육감 강은희)은 학업중단 예방 정책 현장안착을 위해 교육부에서 개최하는 ‘2020 학업중단 예방 우수사례 공모전’에서 3개 부문 4건을 수상했다고 31일 밝혔다.

특히 외부교육기관 부문에서 서부교육지원청 제2Wee센터는 ‘짝이 되는 친구,반려(伴侶)일기 프로그램’운영 사례로 최우수상을 수상해 해당 부문 최고의 프로그램으로 인정받았다.

올해 처음 중학생 대상 치유형 대안교육 위탁교육기관으로서 문을 연 영남Wee센터 내 두비(DoBe)교실도 동일부문에서 장려상을 수상하는 쾌거를 이루었다.

경북여자상업고등학교는 학생부문에서 ‘그래서 나는 오늘도 나를 위해 살기로했다.’라는 감동적인 학업중단 극복 사연을 응모해 우수상을 수상했고, 대구입석초등학교는 학교 내 대안교실 UCC부문에 올해 처음으로 도전해 입상을 수상하는 영예를 안았다.

‘2020 학업중단 예방 우수사례 공모전’ 시상식은 코로나19 확산으로 인해 12월 30일(수) 오후 2시부터 온라인 플랫폼 Zoom을 활용해 비대면으로 진행되었다.

그 동안 대구시교육청은 학업중단 위기 학생들을 위해 초, 중, 고 각급 학교, 교육지원청 6개 Wee센터를 중심으로 학업중단 숙려제를 운영해 왔으며, 특히 올해는 지역 3개 대학(대경대, 수성대, 영진전문대)과 연계해 학업중단 외부위탁프로그램을 운영하는 등 그 외연을 넓혀가며 노력하고 있다.

이와 함께 학업중단 예방을 위해 정규교육과정 안에 대안교육과정을 운영하는 학교 내 대안교실 60개교를 운영했으며, 부적응 학생을 위한 3개 대안교육 외부 위탁기관(꿈못자리, 봉무인디교육센터, 카톨릭푸름터)과 2020년부터는 중학교 단계치유형 대안교육 위탁기관 두비(DoBe)교실을 운영하는 등 다양한 교육 수요를 반영하는 대안교육을 구현하려고 노력하고 있다.

강은희 교육감은 “코로나19 발발로 교육현장이 힘든 상황 속에서도 꾸준히 학업중단 예방을 위해 힘써 온 일선학교 교사와 외부교육기관 담당자에게 진심으로 경의를 표하며, 지금 이 순간에도 힘든 학업중단 상황을 극복하고자 안간힘을 쓰고 있는 학생들을 힘껏 응원한다”고 전했다.
