정종현 교수는 25년 동안 보건·환경·산업보건분야 대학전임교원으로 임용되어 활동하고 있으며, 의학박사, 보건학박사, 공학박사(환경공학)를 취득했다.

그동안 정종현 교수는 교육환경 개선과 평가작업을 수행하였고, 교육환경 보호와 환경교육 지원활동, 다양한 교육 및 자문활동, 환경개선 사업 참여 및 지원활동 등 오랜 동안의 노력과 전문성에 대한 기여를 인정받았다.

특히 교육지원에 활동과 전문성을 바탕으로 한 적극적인 지원활동으로 교육환경분야의 개선과 학생 및 교직원의 건강증진에 대한 기여를 인정받아 교육부장관 표창을 수상했다.
