【브레이크뉴스 경주】박영재 기자=전통적인 자연 초가지붕 고수, 생가 원형의 모습 생동감 있게 보여줘한국문단의 거봉이자 청록파 시인으로 잘 알려진 박목월(朴木月 1915-1978) 시인 생가의 지붕이 봄맞이 새 옷으로 갈아입었다.
26일 경주시에 따르면 건천읍 모량리 소재 박목월 시인 생가 초가지붕의 묵은 볏짚을 털어내고, 새 볏짚을 엮어 만든 이엉을 얹는 작업과 함께 생가 주변을 말끔하게 단장했다.
시는 지난 13일부터 19일까지 생가 지붕 교체작업을 진행했으며, 사업비 1300만원이 투입됐다.
이번 초가지붕 새 단장은 인조 볏짚으로 대체되는 시대적 흐름 속에서도, 전통 방식으로 생가를 옛 모습 그대로 유지하기 위한 작업으로 더욱 의미가 깊다.
강인구 문화예술과장은 “오늘날 생가 복원 시 대부분이 인공 초가지붕을 선호하는 추세이나, 박목월 시인 생가 지붕을 자연 초가지붕으로 선택한 것은 당시 선생이 살았던 생가 모습을 생동감 있고 현실성 있게 보여줘 옛 풍치를 살리기 위한 것”이라며 “깨끗이 새 단장을 마친 박목월 생가에 전국의 많은 문인, 관광객이 찾아와 코로나19로 지친 마음을 치유함과 동시에 시인의 발자취와 정서를 마음껏 느끼고 가시기를 바란다”고 밝혔다.
한편 박목월 시인 생가는 경주시가 한국 문단의 위대한 인물인 박목월 시인의 문학적 위업을 기리고 시민 자긍심 고취, 문학정신의 계승ㆍ발전, 문학관광 명소로 육성하기 위해, 2013년 8월 사업비 23억원을 들여 건천읍 행정길 61에 옛 모습 그대로 복원한 바 있다.
박목월 시인 생가는 4319㎡ 부지에 안채와 사랑채, 디딜방앗간, 우물, 시낭송장, 정자, 밀밭, 동상, 관리동, 화장실을 갖췄고, 액자 13개, 책상 1개, 가방 1개, 필통 1개, 책 87권, 전기난로 1개 등 유물들이 전시돼 시인의 삶과 작품세계를 엿볼 수 있다.
