일단 표면적으로, 노골적으로 불만을 표하지는 않지만 시.도민들의 내부 목소리를 들어보면 심상치는 않다. 1년여 앞으로 다가온 지방선거에 어떤 식으로든 영향을 줄 수 있을 것이란 분석이 나오는 이유다.

가장 큰 원인으로는 현 정부의 정책과 민주당의 행보가 그대로 투영되는 것이다. 여기에 선거용인 가덕도 신공항을 내세우며 대구경북지역 민심을 외면해 버린 것하며 , 단 한 석도 없는 국회의원을 대신한답시고 설치한 당내 특별기구의 실효성, 그리고 TK를 위한 눈에 띠는 대안을 제시하지 못하고 있는 것도 흉흉한 민심의 대표적인 원인으로 꼽힌다.

최근에는 홍의락 부시장이 내년 지방선거에 출마할 것이라는 이야기가 돌자 ‘권 시장의 뒤통수를 친다’는 이야기도 돌고 있다.

중앙당 사람들의 TK홀대는 곧바로 이 지역에서 고생하는 당원들에게 고스란히 돌아간다는 점에서 당장 내년 선거를 준비하는 이들 입장에서는 중앙의 TK 패싱에 고민이 깊어지고 있다.

이쯤 되자 지역민들 사이에는 내년 지방선거를 민주당이 대구경북에서만큼은 포기했다는 이야기까지 나오고 있다. 지금은 간단한 구술 경고로 그치지만 선거에서 달라진 민심을 표출하겠다는 경고로 들리는 이유다.

정치권은 그럴 가능성이 크다고 보고 있다. 지난 지방선거에서 민주당은 대단한 성과를 냈다. 3명의 국회의원이 포진하고 있는 상화에, 박근혜 정부의 국정농단이라는 상황까지 업으면서 94명에 이르는 지방의회 의원들을 배출했다.
