법무부는 지난 15일 이재용 부회장에 대해 취업제한 대상자임을 통보했다. 이는 특정경제범죄가중처벌법 14조에 의한 것으로 법률에 따르면 5억원 이상 횡령·배임으로 범행을 저지른 자는 징역형의 집행이 종료된 날부터 5년간 취업이 제한된다고 규정되어 있다.

이에 따라 이재용 부회장은 2022년 7월 만기출소를 하더라도 유죄가 확정된 범죄행위와 관련이 있는 삼성전자에 5년간 재직할 수 없지만 사면복권되거나 법무부 장관 승인이 있으면 취업제한에서 풀릴 가능성도 있다.

지금까지 유죄 확정으로 취업제한을 받은 재벌 총수는 최태원 SK그룹 회장, 김승연 한화그룹 회장이 있다.

앞서 이 부회장은 86억 8000여만 원의 회삿돈을 횡령해 전직 대통령 박근혜씨와 최서원씨(개명 전 최순실)에게 뇌물로 건넨 혐의 등으로 지난달 18일 징역 2년 6개월을 선고받아 수감되었으며 이 부회장이 재상고를 포기하면서 형이 최종 확정되었다.
