시는 코로나19 극복 및 지역경제 활성화를 위해 총사업비 16억 원을 투입해 2021년 일자리 예산의 75%를 상반기 중 조기 집행해 참여자를 확대 선정했다.
이에 지난 1월 11일부터 15일까지 사업 참여자를 모집한 결과, 2,400여 명이 지원해 최종 248명이 사업 참여자로 확정됐다.
이번 사업은 포항시의 청년일자리, 환경정화, 녹도정비 등 행정 업무 보조와 안전사고 및 재해 예방을 위한 60여 개 업무 분야에서 4개월 동안 실시된다.
포항시는 올해 상반기 코로니19 감염예방을 위한 지역방역일자리사업과 더불어 공공근로 및 지역공동체일자리 실시하여 지역 내 환경정비와 민생경제 활성화를 위해 총력을 다할 계획이다.
이덕희 일자리경제노동과장은 “이번 일자리사업을 통해 코로나19로 더욱 힘들어진 취약계층의 생계에 보탬이 되고 지역 경기 활성화에도 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다”고 말했다.
한편, 하반기 공공근로사업은 오는 5월부터 모집할 예정이며, 상반기사업 종료 후 7월부터 10월까지 4개월간 시행할 계획이다.
