15일 경주시에 따르면 시는 사업비 총 11억 5000만원을 투입해 지역 내 중학교 신입생 1980명과 고등학교 신입생 1820명은 각 입학 학교를 통해 30만원을 지원한다.

다른 시·도에 소재한 중·고교로 입학한 신입생은 지난달 28일까지 학생과 부모 중 최소 한 명 이상이 경주에 주소지를 뒀던 사실만 확인되면, 대상에 포함된다.

신청방법은 경주 지역 중·고교 입학생은 일선 학교에서, 타 지역 입학생은 거주지 읍·면·동 행정복지센터에서 신청하면 된다.

지급 시기는 지급대상 및 중복대상 여부가 최종 확인되는 다음달부터 스쿨뱅킹 계좌를 통해 순차적으로 지급된다. 스쿨뱅킹 계좌가 없을 경우 일반계좌로도 입금이 가능하다.

신청기간은 오는 29일부터 다음달 23일까지 4주간이며, 자세한 사항은 경주시 시정새마을과 교육새마을팀으로 문의하면 된다.

이밖에도 고등학교 전 학년을 대상으로 한 무상급식도 올해부터 시행된다. 또 고교 의무교육도 전학년으로 확대됨에 따라 그동안 학부모가 부담하던 입학금, 수업료 등 연간 160만원에 달하던 비용 부담도 덜게 됐다.

주낙영 경주시장은 “2019년 117억원, 2020년 127억원, 2021년 127억원 등 경주시는 교육지원사업 예산을 매년 늘려 왔다”며 “무상교복과 함께 무상급식 및 의무교육 시행으로 경주가 이른바 ‘교육비용 없는 3무() 교육 도시’로 거듭 나길 바란다”고 전했다.
