고령군(군수 곽용환)은 올해 고령쌀의 품질을 향상시키고 지속적인 육성을 위해 지역 브랜드 쌀인 고령옥미 및 특미 단지를 조성하기로 했다.

이를 위해 관내 4개 업체(고령RPC, 한일정미소, 화암정미소, 양전정미소)가 고령옥미 및 특미 계약에 참여한다.

약정계획면적은 620ha 정도로 옥미 516ha, 특미 104ha이며, 약정계획물량은 93,000포대/40kg이다.

계약재배에 참여하고자 하는 농업인은 4월 5일(월)부터 4월 28일(수)까지 읍․면사무소를 통해 약정을 체결하면 되며, 약정체결 후 수매에 참여하지 않은 농가는 다음해 약정체결 시 페널티를 부여할 예정이다.

군 관계자는 고령옥미 수매시 DNA 검사로 이품종 혼입을 막고, 불합격시 3년간 고령옥미 계약재배를 제한하는 등 품질관리에 최선을 다하고 있다.
