포항시의회 경제산업위원회(위원장 김철수)는 12일 북구 흥해읍에 위치한 아열대 과수 및 산딸기 재배농가를 방문했다고 밝혔다.

이날 위원회는 한라봉 및 바나나 재배농장을 방문해 시설을 둘러보고 재배현황을 살피며, 어려움 속에서도 포항에서 처음으로 아열대 작물 재배에 도전한 농가를 격려했다.

이어 위원들은 송라면에 소재한 산딸기 농장을 방문해 재배 하우스를 둘러본 후 “농가소득에 도움이 될 수 있도록 노지 재배보다 하우스 재배의 이점을 잘 살려 포항 특산품인 산딸기 상품화에 노력해 달라”고 당부했다.

김철수 위원장은 “지역에서 새로운 작물 재배에 여러 가지 어려움이 많음에도 고품질의 과수가 출하되어 다행이다“라며 ”향후 다양한 판매전략과 함께 새로운 작목 발굴이 더해진다면 농가소득에 큰 도움이 될 것”이라고 말했다.
