범야권 및 국민의힘 대선 주자들의 역량과 관련, 시간이 지날수록 여당 후보를 감당해 내기 어려울 수 있다는 조심스런 전망이 조금씩 일고 있다. 

지역정가의 일각에서는 “지금은 이준석 대표가 당을 떠받치고 있지만, 곧 있으면 당 대표 체제가 아닌 대선 주자 체제가 되는데 그 때면 국민의힘 주자들끼리도 물어뜯는 모습을 연출하는 것은 물론, 일부 후보들은 당 지지율을 갉아먹는 언행을 서슴치 않을 것”이라는 것.
