대구경북경제자유구역청(청장 최삼룡, 이하 대경경자청)은 개청 13주년 기념식을 개최했다고 18일 밝혔다.

이날 행사는 경과보고, 대구경북경제자유구역 발전에 앞장서 주신 유공자에 대한 표창, 기념사 순으로 진행되었다.

지난 2008년 8월 13일 개청한 대경경자청은 현재까지 30개 외국 투자기업으로부터 7억 5천 1백만불, 598개 국내기업 및 기관으로부터 5조 2,391억원 규모의 투자를 유치했다.

이를 통해 2만 2천여 개의 일자리를 창출하는 등 지역경제 발전을 견인해 왔다. 

현재 대경경자청이 관리하는  8개 지구(면적 18.46㎢)가운데 영천첨단부품소재산업지구, 신서첨단의료지구, 국제패션디자인지구, 수성의료지구 등 4개 지구의 개발이 완료됐다. 

또한 한국형 실리콘 밸리라 불리는 신성장 첨단 제조업 분야 특화 단지인 ‘대구테크노폴리스지구’ 는 4단계 사업이 진행 중으로 지난 13일 3천억 원 규모의 국가로봇테스트필드 국책 사업에 최종 부지로 선정되었다. 

글로벌 지식 기반 산업 중심지인 ‘경산지식산업지구’는 2단계 개발 중이며 첨단기술간의 융합을 통해 신기술과 신제품을 개발하는 바이오·신약 클러스터 ‘포항융합기술산업지구’는 2022년말까지, 미래형 자동차 부품 밸리인 ‘영천하이테크파크지구’는 2024년까지 개발 완료를 목표로 하고 있다.
