경상북도와 상주시는 지난 14일 상주시청에서 SK머티리얼즈 그룹14(가칭, 이하 합작회사) 및 SK머티리얼즈의 이차전지배터리용 실리콘 음극재 및 원재료 생산공장 신설을 내용으로 하는 투자양해각서(MOU)를 체결했다고 15일 밝혔다.

이번 투자로 합작회사와 SK머티리얼즈는 2022년부터 2026년까지 5년간에 걸쳐 8500억 원을 투자해 상주 청리일반산업단지 내 37만 3848㎡(약 11만 3000평) 부지에 이차전지용 핵심 소재 등을 생산하는 공장을 신설할 계획이다.
이로 인해 170여명의 신규 고용이 이루어져 지역경제 활성화와 일자리창출에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
