영진전문대학교(총장 최재영)가 ‘도그쇼(Dogshow) 핸들링 체험’ 행사를 개최했다.

지난 25일 교내 백호체육관에서 열린 도그쇼(Dogshow) 핸들링 체험은 고교생과 대학생, 일반인 등 30여 명이 참석한 가운데 진행되었다.

영진전문대학교는 내년도 ‘펫케어과’ 개설을 앞두고 열린 이번 행사에서 세계애견연맹(FCI), 아시아애견연맹(AKU), 한국애견연맹(KKF) 전 견종 심사위원인 이종민 교수를 초빙해 반려동물 관련 사고 원인에 대한 특강을 진행했다.

또한 2부에서는 프로견 핸들링 시범과 참가자들의 본인 반려견과의 핸들링 체험을 이어갔고 수료증을 수여하는 시간을 가지기도 했다.

이민영 교수(펫케어과)는 “요즘 반려동물의 특성을 잘 이해하지 못해 일어나는 사고들이 잦은데 반려견을 선택할 때 외형보다도 특성을 이해하고 반려견을 맞이하고, 그에 맞는 반려견 교육이 중요하다”면서 “이번 행사에선 반려견 사고예방 강의, 핸들링 체험으로 반려인과 반려동물이 행복하게 지낼 길을 제시했다”고 전했다.
