【브레이크뉴스 경주】박영재 기자=경주시는 7일 전기자전거 전문기업 ㈜이엠이코리아, 배터리팩 전문기업 ㈜에스엠케이와 스널모빌리티 및 2차전지 배터리팩 생산시설 구축을 위한 투자유치양해각서(MOU)를 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이에 따라 ㈜이엠이코리아와 ㈜에스엠케이는 2025년까지 300억원을 투자해 경주 안강읍에 전기자전거 등 퍼스널모빌리티 생산시설 및 2차전지 배터리팩 제조시설을 구축한다는 계획이다.
신규 고용인원은 170여명이 될 전망이며, ㈜이엠이코리아와 ㈜에스엠케이는 신설부지로 안강읍 검단일반산업단지를 유력하게 검토하고 있다.
앞서 지난 5일 산업부 주관 ‘퍼스널모빌리티 배터리공유스테이션 통합관제센터 유치’ 공모사업에 경주시가 선정된 데 이어 이번 투자유치MOU체결로 e-모빌리티산업 중심지로 경주가 급부상하게 됐다.
주낙영 시장은 “㈜이엠이코리아와 ㈜에스엠케이의 투자유치를 계기로 경주 안강읍이 미래 신성장산업인 e-모빌리티산업 중심지로 거듭날 수 있도록 행정적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편 대구 동구 신암동에 본사를 둔 이엠이코리아는 전기자전거, 전동킥보드, 전동스쿠터 등 다양한 퍼스널 모빌리티를 개발해 판매하고 있다.
매년 새로운 디자인과 신기술을 도입한 제품을 선보이는데, 자체 브랜드 외에도 이탈리아의 페라리, 벨로시페로, 프랑스 마이클 블라스트 등 해외브랜드의 독점 판매권을 확보하면서 주목을 받고 있는 기업이다.
