김 의원에 따르면 달전초 이전 사업은 기존 달전초를 흥해 이인지구 안으로 이전 및 확장하는 사업으로 총 507억원(시설비 367.2억원, 부지매입비 139.8억원)이 소요될 것으로 예상된다.
흥해 이인지구는 삼도드림파크, 대유타운, 삼구트리니엔, 한화포레나 등 5천여 세대가 거주하는 역세권 신도시로 발전 중이다. 이에 따라 기존 달전초 시설만으로 새롭게 입주하는 세대 수용이 힘들 것으로 예측돼, 학교시설 이전과 증설이 지역의 주요 현안으로 꼽혔다.
달전초 이전 사업의 물꼬를 튼 이번 중투심 결정으로 달전초 과밀학급 문제를 해소하고 이인지구 학생들의 원거리 통학을 방지해, 지역 전체의 교육 여건을 개선하고 안전한 교육환경이 제공될 것으로 기대된다.
