【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=계명대(총장 신일희)가 코로나19 장기화로 인한 부족한 혈액 수급 안정화를 위해 ‘계명 가족 사랑의 헌혈’ 행사를 펼쳤다고 밝혔다.

지난 10일부터 12일까지 3일간 진행된 이번 헌혈행사에는 1,168명 참여해 약 42만㎖의 혈액을 모았다.

이는 지난해 헌혈 캠페인과 비교해 400여 명이 증가한 것으로 혈액 부족 상황 속에서 큰 도움을 주었다.

이번 행사를 위해 계명대는 18대의 헌혈차량을 동원해 캠퍼스 전역에서 캠페인을 펼치는 한편, 2020년 12월에 개소한 ‘헌혈의 집 계명대센터’의 지원과 대구은행의 헌혈자를 위한 칫솔·치약 1,200세트, 푸드트럭 등의 후원으로 헌혈 문화 조성에 동참해 그 의미를 더했다.

계명대 RCY(청소년적십자) 동아리 양희종 회장은 “혈액부족상황이 심각한 수준이지만, 코로나19로 인해 헌혈인구가 많이 줄고 있어 이번 캠페인을 기획하게 됐다.”며, “생각보다 많은 계명 가족들이 참여해 줘 놀랍고 전국적으로 헌혈에 동참하는 사람들이 많아지길 바란다.”고 말했다.

신일희 계명대학교 총장은 "작년부터 시작한 계명 가족 헌혈 행사가 2년째를 맞이하고 있다. 젊은 층의 헌혈참여는 혈액 수급 안정화와 더불어 미래 헌혈자 확보 및 중장년층 헌혈 참여의 증대로 연결되는 중요한 의미를 지닌다." 며, “이 행사를 통해 지역 내 헌혈참여 분위기 확산에도 큰 도움이 되었으면 좋겠다.”고 말했다.
