홍준표 당선인이 이같이 대응하는 데는 당선이 확정되던 날 모 방송사 앵커와 나눴던 인터뷰 때문으로 알려졌다. 홍 당선인은 그날 인터뷰하는 방송사 앵커를 ‘고약하다’고 표현하면서 그가 물었던 질문 내용 또한 고약한 심뽀로 묻는 질문이라고 했다. 그러면서 “니가 한번 출마해 봐라. 대구시장 되는 일이 그리 쉬운가라고 대답할 뻔 했다”고 고백했다.
