기념식은 홍보영상 시청, 국민의례, 경과보고, 대구경북경제자유구역 발전에 앞장서 주신 유공자에 대한 표창, 기념사 순으로 진행되었다.

이날 행사에서는 대구경북경제자유구역 발전 유공자로 선정된 유관기관 관계자 및 공무원 9명에게 표창을 수여했다.

2008년 8월 13일 개청한 대경경자청은 총 8개 지구(면적 18.47㎢)를 관리하고 있으며 국제패션디자인지구, 신서첨단의료지구, 수성의료지구, 영천첨단부품소재산업지구 등 4개 지구의 개발이 완료됐다.

테크노폴리스지구는 4단계 사업이 진행 중이며, 경산지식산업지구는 올 하반기 2단계 분양 예정, 포항융합기술산업지구는 2022년말까지, 영천하이테크파크지구는 2024년까지 개발 완료를 목표로 하고 있다.

개청 이래 현재까지 31개 외국 투자기업으로부터 7억 6천 3백만불, 641개 국내기업 및 기관으로부터 5조 3,607억원 규모의 투자를 유치하고, 2만 2천여 개의 일자리를 창출하는 등 지역경제 발전에 큰 역할을 해왔다.
