【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=국립금오공과대학교(총장 곽호상) 기계시스템공학과 곽윤상 교수 연구팀이 제2회 경북 공공데이터 활용 창업경진대회에서 ‘최우수상’을 수상했다. 

곽윤상 교수의 지능형파동역학 연구실(이하 IWD Lab.) 학생들은 경상북도가 주최하고 포항테크노파크가 주관한 제2회 경북 공공데이터 활용 창업경진대회에 참가해 최우수상을 수상하는 영예를 안았다.

이번 대회는 공공데이터를 활용한 창업 아이디어와 비즈니스 모델 등을 발굴하여 데이터 경제를 활성화하기 위해 개최되었으며 ‘아이디어기획’과 ‘제품 및 서비스 개발’의 2개 부문으로 나눠 진행되었다.

대회에서는 금오공대 기계시스템공학과 3학년 강륜아, 김선규, 박태용, 2학년 백혜림 학생으로 구성된 IWD Lab. 연구팀은 ‘멀티-모달(Multi-Modal) 딥러닝을 이용한 회전 기계의 고장진단’으로 아이디어기획 부문에서 최우수상을 차지했다.   

 IWD Lab. 연구팀은 한국지능정보사회진흥원의 IT센터 학습용 공공데이터인 도시철도에 설치된 회전 기계의 진동 및 전류 데이터를 활용했다. 

이들은 회전 기계의 고장으로 발생하는 각종 피해를 예방하고자, 복합신호를 파악하는 새로운 멀티모달 데이터를 이용해 회전 기계의 고장 원인을 보다 정확하게 진단할 수 있게 함으로써 기계 고장에 따른 유지 보수비용 절감 및 생산성 향상을 기대할 수 있는 아이디어로 심사위원들의 주목을 받았다.

이번 대회에서 최우수상을 수상한 연구팀 학생들은“산업계를 비롯해 우리 주변에서 많이 사용되는 회전 기계는 예기치 못한 고장으로 위험한 사건·사고로 이어지는 경우가 많아 평소 안타까운 마음이 있었다.”며, “이번 대회를 준비하며 그 고장 진단의 정확성을 확인한 멀티-모달 데이터가 실제 현장에서도 적용돼 보다 실질적인 도움이 되도록 열심히 연구하겠다.”고 말했다. 

곽윤상 지도교수는 “기계에서 발생하는 진동 신호는 많은 정보들을 함축하고 있기 때문에 진동 분석과 딥러닝 기술이 결합된다면 새로운 차원의 기계 진단기술로 발전될 수 있다”며, “회전 기계는 많은 기계설비의 주요 구성요소인 만큼 앞으로도 해당 기술이 스마트 공장 및 전기자동차의 상태진단 분야로 확장될 수 있도록 노력하겠다.”고 말했다. 

한편 IWD Lab. 연구팀은 오는 8월 31일 열리는 ‘제10회 범정부 공공데이터 활용 창업경진대회’본선에 경상북도 대표로 출전할 예정이다.

In the competition, the IWD Lab was composed of 3rd graders Ryunah Kang, Seonkyu Kim, Taeyong Park, and Hyerim Baek, 2nd graders from the Department of Mechanical and Systems Engineering at Kumoh University of Technology. The research team won the top prize in the idea planning category for ‘Fault Diagnosis of Rotating Machines Using Multi-Modal Deep Learning’.

 IWD Lab. The research team used vibration and current data of rotating machines installed in urban railroads, which are public data for learning at the IT center of the Korea Intelligent Information Society Agency.

In order to prevent various damages caused by the failure of rotating machines, they use new multi-modal data that identifies complex signals to more accurately diagnose the cause of the failure of rotating machines, thereby reducing maintenance costs and improving productivity due to machine failure. It was a promising idea and attracted the attention of the judges.

The students of the research team who won the grand prize in this competition said, “I have always felt sad because the rotating machinery used a lot in the industry and around us often leads to dangerous accidents and accidents due to unexpected failures.” “Preparing for this competition, We will work hard so that the multi-modal data that has confirmed the accuracy of the fault diagnosis will be applied to the actual field to provide more practical help.”

Professor Kwak Yun-sang said, “Since vibration signals generated by machines contain a lot of information, if vibration analysis and deep learning technology are combined, it can be developed into a new level of machine diagnostic technology. As it is a major component, we will continue to strive to expand the technology to the field of smart factory and electric vehicle condition diagnosis.”

Meanwhile, IWD Lab. The research team is expected to participate as a representative of Gyeongsangbuk-do in the '10th Pan-Governmental Public Data Utilization Startup Contest' to be held on August 31st.
