【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포스코는 지난 6일 김학동 부회장을 단장으로 설비, 생산/판매, 기술, 안전 등 관련 임원들이 포함된 ‘태풍재해복구TF’를 구성하고, 신속한 조업정상화 방안을 논의했다고 밝혔다.
이 자리에서 당초 포항제철소는 태풍 힌남노 상륙 예정일인 6일 하루 조업중단과 집중적인 폭우에 대비해 안전시설물 점검, 배수로 정비, 물막이 작업 등 철저한 대비를 했으나, 이날 새벽 최대 500mm의 기록적인 폭우가 만조 시점과 겹치면서 제철소 인근 하천인 냉천의 갑작스런 범람을 유발했고, 이것이 한전으로부터 전기공급 시설인 수전변전소를 비롯한 제철소 대부분 지역 침수와 정전으로 이어진 불가항력적인 사태로 파악했다.
또한, 현 시점에서 가장 중요한 것은 조기 조업 정상화로, 우선 고로의 정상 가동을 위해 가능한 각 고로별 휴/송풍을 반복하면서 빠른 시일 내에 조업을 개시한다는 방침을 세웠다. 침수된 수전변전소의 경우 1-2일 내로 우선 정상화시켜 복구 작업에 물꼬를 튼다는 계획이다. 포항제철소 생산 슬라브 일부를 광양 제철소로 전환 가공하고, 광양제철소의 생산량을 최대한 늘린다는 방침도 세웠다.

포스코그룹 최정우 회장도 지난 6일 포스코 포항제철소를 찾아 냉천 주위 침수지역, 2열연공장, 변전소 등 피해 현장과 직원들의 안전을 살피고, 현장에서 비상대책회의를 주재했다.
이 자리에서 최 회장은“임직원들이 힘을 모아 최대한 안전하고 신속하게 피해를 복구하고 조업을 정상화해 국가와 지역 경제에 영향이 없도록 해야할 것”이며“수해 복구를 위해 그룹 차원의 총력 지원과 대응을 해야할 것”이라고 강조했다. 또한,“포스코도 많은 피해를 입었지만 지역사회와 주민들이 아픔을 딛고 하루빨리 일어설 수 있도록 적극적으로 지원하고 기여할 수 있는 다양한 방안을 모색하라”고도 주문했다.
