이날 강민정 의원은 경북대학교 국악학과, 음악학과, 국어국문학과, 사학과 등 총 4개 과에서 교수 채용을 둘러싼 비리 의혹이 불거져 경찰 수사가 진행 중이라는 사실을 지적하며 “국립대의 명예나 정체성 확립에 치명적인 문제”라고 꼬집었다.

이에 홍원화 경북대 총장은 “해당 사안은 어제 오늘의 문제가 아니라 10년간 반복되어 온 것”이라면서 “학교 내부에서 해결할 수 없고 교육부에 요청을 해도 해결이 어려운 상황이라 광역수사대에 의뢰를 한 상태”라고 설명했다.

이와 같은 홍 총장의 답변에 서병수 의원은 “교수 채용 비리를 10년째 계속되어온 관행처럼 말씀을 하시는 것에서 문제를 바로 잡으려는 의지를 볼 수가 없다.”고 질타했다.
