【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자= 경상북도의회 원자력대책특별위원회(위원장 최덕규. 이하 원전특위)가 집행부에 새 정부의 원전정책 변화에 발빠르게 대처할 것을 주문하고 나섰다.

경북도의회 원전특위는 제336회 정례회 기간인 22일 제2차 원자력대책특별위원회를 개최하고 동해안전략산업국으로부터 원자력대책과 관련한 주요업무를 보고 받았다고 23일 밝혔다.

이 자리에서 특위는 원자력 관련 2022년도 역점 및 신규시책 보고와 더불어 지난 정부에서 있었던 월성1호기 조기폐쇄, 영덕 천지 원전 백지화, 울진 신한울 3·4호기 건설 중단 등으로 지역에 직간접적으로ㅠ 발생한 피해 파악 및 대책에 집중했다.

특위는 월성 원전 1호기 조기 폐쇄에 따른 피해액의 정부 보전과는 별도로 경북도가 별도로 자체 방안을 마련할 것을 주문했다. 

경북도는 월성원전의 조기 폐쇄를 통해 7천277억원 규모의 피해 비용이 발생한 것으로 집계하고, 비용 보전을 정부(산업부)에 신청한 바 있다. 이와 관련 정부는 아직까지 구체적인 보전 범위와 규모를 확정짓지 못하고 있다.

이와 함께 중수로 원전해체기술원 부지 문제에 대하여도 조속히 확정할 것과 관련 절차를 신속하게 진행하라고 주문했다. 또, 영덕천지원전의 건설 취소로 행정 소송이 진행중인 가운데 경북도는 409억원의 천지원전 특별지원 사업 지원금과 관련해 영덕군과 경북도간의 공조를 당부하기도 했다.

원자력대책특별위원회 최덕규(경주) 위원장은 “지금 우리 경북은 경주 SMR 국가산단 조성, 울진 원자력활용 수소생산·실증 및 국가산단 조성, 원전지역주민 보호를 위한 원자력방재타운 조성 등 여러 국책사업 유치를 위한 도전을 하고 있다”면서 “도의회 차원에서 지역원전산업 활성화와 원전정책 개발에 더욱 노력하고 정부의 정책동향에 적극적으로 대응해 나가겠다.”고 밝혔다.
