29일 사단에 따르면 이번 훈련은 해안 여단의 해상침투대비 작전계획 검증과 해안으로 침투하는 적을 격멸하기 위한 해·공군과의 협조체계 및 운용능력 함양, 합동 화력운용 행동화 숙달을 목표로 실시됐다.

  

이날 훈련에는 화랑여단 장병 80여 명과 박격포 9문(4.2", 81mm, 60mm)과 직사화기 17정(K-2, K-3.6, M60) 등 다수의 육군 전력들이 참가했으며, 육군 항공인 수리온 (KUH-1) 헬기 1대, 해군 고속정(PKM) 1정, 공군 전투기(KF-16) 2대와 울진·포항 해경의 해경정 2정 등은 기상으로 인해 실제 출동이 아닌 절차식 훈련으로 대체했다.
