같은 날 오전 유승민 의원은 KBS 라디오 '최경영의 최강시사'에서 국민의힘 내부에서 논의되는 전당대회 룰 변경을 두고 “삼류 코미디 같은 얘기”라며 “주호영 원내대표가 언급한 MZ세대와 수도권 지지를 받을 수 있는 당권 후보가 저밖에 더 있나?”라고 언급했다.

이와 관련해 나경원 부위원장은 “우리 당의 전당대회 룰은 7대 3이고, 여론조사 30%는 이미 그동안의 룰에서 민주당 지지자는 제외하게 되어 있다.”고 설명했다.

그러면서 “여론조사에 따르면 민주당 지지자를 제외한 국민의힘과 중도층 지지에서 제가 약 28%, 국민의힘 지지층 중에서는 약 35%를 받았던 것 같다.”고 말하며 “현재 룰대로 계산해도 무난하게 제가 1등”이라고 강조했다.

이어 “(유 의원이)여론조사만 갖고 말씀하시는 건 아니지 않을까 이런 생각을 하면서 가장 잘 하실 수 있다는 자신감의 표현이라고 이해하고 있다.”고 덧붙여 말했다.

한편 나경원 부위원장은 당 대표 출마 여부를 묻는 기자에 질문에 “예의주시하고 있다.”며 “좋은 모양으로 전당대회가 갈 수 있다면 제가 꼭 나서야 되나 하는 생각이지만 여러 가지 가능성을 열어놓고 보겠다.”는 입장을 밝혔다.
