이어 "주민들을 향해 '종교 다원성과 문화 다양성'을 모르는 무식한 집단이라고 비난하더니 이제는 주민들의 문화와 종교를 차별하고 혐오 하고 있다"며"우리는 무슬림 유학생의 폭행 사건에 대해 강력하게 대응할 것"이라고 주장했다.

이날 기자회견 도중 경북대 사범대 학생 A(20)씨와 졸업생 한 명이 '종교의 자유를 유린하고 조롱하는 대현동 연말 큰잔치를 규탄한다'는 내용의 대자보를 교문에 붙이는 과정에서 비대위와 충돌이 발생했다.

A(20) 씨는 “주민들께서 경북대 총장 지시 받았냐, 총학생회냐 이러시는데 총학생회 아니고 일반 사범대 학생이다. 다만 학생이자 예비교원, 대한민국 시민으로서 도덕적 책무와 의무감을 느꼈다”고 말했다.

한편 이날 비대위는 기자회견 후 이슬람 사원 건립 부지 앞에서 통돼지 바비큐 파티를 벌였다.이슬람 문명권에서는 돼지고기를 먹는 것을 죄악으로 여긴다.

이슬람사원 건축 공사장 인근에는 지난 10월 27일부터 두 달 가까이 돼지머리 등이 놓여 있다. 현재도 돼지머리 3개와 족발·돼지꼬리 등이 놓여있다.

대현동 이슬람 사원 갈등은 지난 9월 공사가 적법하다는 대법원의 판결이 났지만 2년 가까이 건축주 측과 인근 주민 간의 갈등이 이어지고 있다.
