보다 못한 국민의힘 당원들의 입에서조차 이 같은 비난들이 쏟아지고 있다. 그것도 다른 곳이 아닌 국민의힘의 성지라고 불리는 TK 당원들에게서 일어나는 현상들이다. 이들의 대부분의 지적은 친윤 그룹 진영을 겨냥했다.  

6일, 당 대표 후보인 안철수 의원이 윤석열 대통령실과의 소통에 문제가 발생하면서 장고에 들어갔다는 소식이 전해지자, 지역정가에서는 “이제 본격적인 안철수 때리기가 또 시작되는 것인가”라며 우려하는 목소리들이 새어나왔다. 홍준표 대구시장은 이날도 SNS에 글을 올려 ‘안철수 후보가 역린을 건드렸다’고 우려했다. 이들은 그런 홍 시장을 향해서도 ‘제발 좀 그만 했으면 좋겠다“고 핀잔을 했다.

대구시당 전직 핵심당직자 증 한 사람인 K씨는 기자에 전화해 여론 살피기에 나섰다. 그는 본 기자에게 “오늘 아침 안 대표가 장고에 들어간 것을 어찌 보고 있느냐”며 “밖에서 이 같은 상황을 어떻게 보고 있는지 많은 당원들이 걱정하고 있는 것이 사실”이라고 말했다. 

그러면서 “천하람 변호사가 등장했는데 앞으로의 상황이 달라질 수 있다고 보느냐. 누가 봐도 김기현 의원 뒤에는 장제원이 있다고 봐야 하는 것 아니냐”는 등의 질문을 기자에 쏟아부었다. 

K씨 뿐 아니라 당협 관계자들도 전당대회에 대한 걱정을 쏟아냈다. 모 국회의원 보좌관은 대통령실의 안철수 의원에 대한 반응과 김기현 후보의 (안철수)후보 사퇴 관련 발언, 그리고 신평 교수의 대통령 탈당 발언을 두고 “도대체 당이 어디로 가려고 이러는지 모르겠다”고 푸념했다. 

김기현 의원의 나경원 전 의원 일방적 방문에 대하여도 지역 정가는 “염치없는 짓”이라고 비난했다. 특히, 나경원 의원의 불출마를 종용하는 연판장을 돌린 당내 초선 의원들이 나 전 의원을 만나는 것으로 알려지자 “후안무치 행동의 극치”라며 “국민들이 배율 것이 하나도 없다. 너무나 뻔뻔한 인간들이다.  정치를 하지 말아야 할 사람들”이라고 강력 비난했다.

일각에서는 자성을 요구하는 목소리도 나왔다. 대구 지역 모 의회 한 기초의원은 “우리의 자업자득이다. 우리가 그런 대통령을 대표 선수로 앉혔고, 당내 인재들도 키우지 않았다. 자세히 보면 우리 스스로가 집권 여당이 될 자격이 있는지 돌아봐야 한다.”면서 “우리가 뿌린 씨, 우리가 거둬들여야 하지 않겠나. 당원들이 이제는 정말 가만히 보고만 있어서는 안된다. 당원들이 정말 혼내줘야 한다. 특히, 보수 심장이라는 우리 TK 지역 당원들이 이럴 때 이들을 혼내 주지 않으면 우리 스스로가 당을 포기하는 것”이라고 말했다.

점점 더해가는 당내 친윤 그룹과 대통령실의 지나치다 싶을 정도의 선거개입 의혹이 국민들로부터 비난의 대상이 되면서 당의 실질적 주인인 국민의힘 당원들이 앞으로 어떤 움직임을 보여줄 수 있을지 관심이 모아지고 있다.
