 대구시(시장 홍준표), 롯데쇼핑㈜(대표이사 정준호), 대구경북경제자유구역청(청장 최삼룡)은 10일 오전 대구시청 산격청사에서 수성알파시티 내 롯데복합쇼핑몰 개발사업의 신속한 추진을 위한 합의체결식을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

대구시와 대경경자청은 롯데쇼핑(주)과 지난 3개월간의 논의 끝에 상호 신뢰를 확인하고 합의서에 구체적 일정과 이행담보 조항을 담는 데 최종 합의했다.

이날 홍준표 대구시장은 "전국에서 대구와 광주는 응집력이 강한 도시"라며"롯데가 그룹 차원에서 지역의 정서를 끌어안지 않고는 제대로 된 쇼핑몰을 열기가 어렵다.이 점을 명심하기를 바란다"며 현지법인화를 강조했다.

합의에 따라 롯데복합쇼핑몰은 오는 2026년 6월 말까지 공사를 완료하고 2026년 9월 말까지 영업을 개시하게된다.

또 롯데쇼핑(주) 측의 고의 또는 중대한 과실로 사업추진 일정이 장기간 지연되는 경우 지연보상금을 부과할 수 있다는 이행담보 조항도 명문화했다.

롯데쇼핑(주)은 변화하는 시장의 수요를 반영하여 자연 친화적 미래형 쇼핑환경을 갖춘 새로운 형태의 체험형 복합 문화공간으로 구성한다는 계획으로 향후, 해외설계, 건축 변경 허가 등의 행정절차를 이행하여 2026년 6월 완공하겠다는 의지를 밝혔다.

대구시와 대경경자청에서도 롯데복합쇼핑몰의 빠른 건립을 위해 대구시투자유치의 최고 강점인 ‘원스톱 기업투자지원’을 통해 각종 심의, 인·허가 등의 행정절차가 신속히 진행되도록 적극적으로 지원할 예정이다.

한편 당초 롯데는 지난 2014년 수성알파시티 77,049㎡ 부지를 분양받은 후 2020년에 연면적 250,314㎡ 규모로 복합쇼핑몰을 조성하는 건축허가를 받았다.

 2021년 5월 터파기 공사를 시작해 시민들의 기대를 모았지만 고금리, 부동산 경기 침체, 쇼핑몰 콘셉트 변경 등의 사유로 사실상 공사가 지지부진해 사업이 중단되는 것은 아니냐는 우려가 있었다.
