지난 15일 산업통상자원부와 국토교통부가 국가산업단지 조성 계획과 함께 전국 15개소 후보지를 밝혔다.

이중 경북에서는 경주, 안동, 울진 등 3곳이 후보지로 선정되었으며 지역 특성에 맞는 산단이 육성되면 지역 경제발전과 인구소멸 위기 극복에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

경주시는 문무대왕면 150만5천㎡에 3천500억원을 투입해 SMR(소형 모듈 원전) 혁신제조 클러스터를 조성하여 원전 수출과 첨단산업 육성 산업생태계를 구축하고, 안동시 풍산읍 132만3천㎡에 2천500억원을 투입해 백신·햄프 바이오의약 산업을 중심으로 글로벌 바이오 클러스터를, 울진군 죽변면 157만8천㎡에 3천억 원을 투입해 원전을 활용한 청정 수소생산·실증·저장·운반 관련 산업의 생태계를 조성할 예정으로 확인된다.

이 가운데 민주당 경북도당은 “국가산단으로 최종 지정받기위해서는 넘어야 될 산이 많다.”면서 “우선 예비타당성 조사를 통과하기 위해서는 천억원에 가까운 지자체 예산이 투입되고 산단계획 신청이 완료되기 까지 최소 3~4년이 걸리는 만큼 타지역 후보지와의 경쟁이 불가피하다.”고 우려를 전했다.

이와 함께 “경기도 용인에 710만㎡, 대전에 530만㎡ 등 수도권에 300조에 달하는 반도체 클러스터를 조성한다는 정부 계획으로 경북지역 반도체 산업의 이탈이 우려되는 만큼 각별한 주의가 필요하다.”고 강조했다.

더불어민주당 경북도당은 “이번 경북지역 3개소에 대한 국가산업단지 후보지 선정으로 경북이 재도약 할 수 있는 계기가 되기를 기대한다.”면서 “문재인 정부에서도 꾸준히 검토되어 온 지역의 숙원 사업인 만큼 국가산단으로 최종 지정 받을 수 있도록 최선을 다할 것.”이라고 덧붙여 말했다.
