28일 금오공대 접견실에서 금오공대 곽호상 총장과 김정환 경북본부장을 비롯해 금오공대 허장욱 산학협력단장, 김동성 ICT융합특성화연구센터장, 한국전력공사 경북본부 정운광 전략경영부장, 심종명 탄소중립부장 등이 참석한 가운데 협약식이 개최되었다.

이날 양 기관은 지역 내 탄소중립 구현을 위한 다양한 산학협력 추진을 약속했다. 협약은 한국전력공사 경북본부에 설치된 탄소중립부와 금오공대 ICT융합특성화연구센터를 중심으로 재생에너지 보급 활성화를 위한 연구와 기술 개발을 통해 새로운 재생에너지와 관련된 사업 추진과 구미 산업단지공단의 ‘스마트에너지클러스터(SEC)’ 구축에 적극 협력하는 것을 주요 골자로 한다.

금오공대는 앞서 2020년 5월에도 한국전력공사 경북본부와 인적교류 분야에 대한 협약을 체결한 바 있어, 지역 산업단지의 탄소중립 구현 및 R&D 협력에 대한 이번 협약을 통해 양 기관의 협력이 보다 강화될 것으로 기대된다

곽호상 금오공대 총장은 “대학이 가진 지적, 인적 자원과 인프라를 바탕으로 향후 구미 산단의 에너지 자급자족을 위한 스마트에너지클러스터 구축과 지역 내 탄소중립 실현을 위해 적극 협력하겠다.”고 말했다.
