10일 홍준표 시장은 CBS 라디오와의 전화 인터뷰 중 진행자가 한동훈 장관의 총선 출마에 대해 묻자 “총선은 총력전이다. 내가 누구 나와라, 나오지 마라 할 수가 있나? 질문이 좀 그렇다.”고 답변했다.

이에 진행자는 “한동훈 장관 이야기는 별로 하고 싶어 하지 않으시는 것 같다.”고 말했고 홍 시장은 “말을 그렇게 하면 안 된다.”며 불쾌감을 드러냈다.

이후 홍준표 시장은 자신의 페이스북을 통해 “내가 마치 한동훈 장관을 시기하는 듯한 무례한 질문을 하기에 도중에 인터뷰를 중단했다.”며 “더 이상 이야기하다가는 설화를 입을 수도 있다고 판단이 되었다.”고 해명했다.
