브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 이재명 더불어민주당 대표에 대한 체포동의안이 국회에 접수됐다. 국회는 오는 20일 본회의를 열고 체포동의안을 보고한 뒤 21일 표결할 것으로 예상된다. 법무부는 19일 윤석열 대통령의 재가를 거쳐 체포동의안을 국회에 접수했다고 밝혔다.

이로서, 이재명 더불어민주당 당 대표에 관한 검찰의 구속영장 청구-국회통과 여부-구속 여부 등의 사안이 올 추석(9월29일) 정국의 핫이슈로 부상했다.

체포동의안을 접수받은 국회는 가장 먼저 열리는 본회의에 보고해야 하며 보고 이후 24~72시간 내에 표결에 부쳐야 한다.

72시간 내 본회의가 열리지 못하는 상황이라면, 가장 빨리 열리는 본회의에서 투표해야 한다.

만약 체포동의안이 가결된다면 법원은 구속 전 피의자 심문(영장실질심사)를 열고 구속여부를 판단하게 된다. 반대로 기각된다면 별도 심리 없이 영장은 기각된다.

검찰이 지난 18일 올해 초 제기한 첫번째 구속영장 내용에 쌍방울 대북송금 의혹과 백현동 개발비리 의혹을 병합해 두번째 구속영장을 청구했다.

혐의로 보면, 특정경제범죄 가중처벌 등에 관한 법률 위반(배임), 위증교사, 특정범죄 가중처벌 등에 관한 법률 위반(뇌물), 외국환거래법위반 등 4가지다. 

한편 이재명 대표는 단식 19일차인 전날 병원으로 이송됐지만 검찰은 정치적 고려 없이 구속영장을 청구했다. 

한동훈 법무부 장관은 전날 기자들과 만나 "소환 통보를 받고 시작하는 단식은 처음 봤다"면서 "수사받던 피의자가 단식으로 자해한다고 해서 사법시스템이 정지되는 선례가 만들어지면 안 된다"고 강조하기도 했다.

A motion to arrest Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, was submitted to the National Assembly.
