【브레이크뉴스 】진예솔 기자=대구대학교(총장 박순진)가 장애 학생을 위한 대표적 과학 축제 ‘희망의 과학싹 잔치’ 개최 소식을 전했다.

지난 21일 대구대학교 경산캠퍼스 사범대학 강당과 성산홀에서 열린 희망의 과학싹 잔치는 장애와 비장애 구분 없이 통합교육 환경에서 누구나 쉽게 과학을 즐길 수 있도록 꾸미는 과학 문화행사로, 2006년 처음 시작돼 올해로 18회째를 맞았다.

대구창의융합교육원과 대구대 사범대학이 주최한 행사는 자폐 및 정서행동장애 특수학교인 대구덕희학교 학생과 교직원 200여 명이 참석한 가운데 과학연극, 과학매직쇼, 창의체험활동 등 다양한 과학 교육과 체험형 교육활동이 펼쳐졌다. 

특히 대구대 물리교육과 학생들이 ‘태풍을 부르는 네버랜드 구하기 대작전’이란 제목으로 선보인 창작 연극은 딱딱한 과학 원리를 재미있는 이야기를 통해 전달해 호평을 받았다.

대구대 화학교육과 학생들은 물감, 풍선, 불 등의 6개 아이템을 선정해 화려한 마술 공연을 진행해 참가 학생들을 신기한 마술 세계로 이끌었다. 

이 밖에도 사범대학 동아리 ‘타락’ 학생들은 난타 공연과 함께 총 14종의 과학탐구 및 놀이체험 활동이 다채롭게 펼쳐졌다.

대구대 임성민 교수(물리교육과)는 “이 행사는 18년 동안 대구 지역의 모든 특수학교가 최소 한 번씩은 참여했을 정도로 오랜 기간 이어온 대표적 과학 축제로 자리매김했다”면서 “100여 명의 넘는 사범대학 학생들이 3개월 넘게 열심히 준비한 결과, 장애학생들이 새로운 꿈을 키우는 희망의 축제로 만들 수 있었다. 참여해 주신 모든 분에게 깊이 감사드린다”고 말했다.

Professor Lim Seong-min (Department of Physics Education) at Daegu University said, “This event has established itself as a representative science festival that has been running for a long time, with all special schools in the Daegu area participating at least once for 18 years.” He added, “More than 100 students from the College of Education attended. As a result of hard preparation for over three months, we were able to turn it into a festival of hope where disabled students could develop new dreams. “I am deeply grateful to everyone who participated,” he said.
