홍 시장은 8일 자신의 사회관계망서비스(SNS)에 "대통령이 어려우면 은혜를 입은 사람들이 자진해서 험지로 가야지, 너도나도 양지만 찾아 자기라도 살겠다는 모습만 보이는 건 총선에 아무런 도움이 되지 않는다"며 "(내년) 총선 이기기는 힘들게 생겼다"고 비판했다.

대통령실 수은 인사로 지목되는 이들은 직접적으로는 박민식 국가보훈부 장관을 비롯해 김은혜 전 대통령실 홍보수석, 이영 중소벤처기업부 장관을 비롯해 간접적으로는 강명구, 김찬영, 이부형, 이병훈 등 행정관 만 30여 명의 이름이 오르내리고 있다. 특히 이들이 출마의사를 직접 밝혔거나 거론되는 지역이 이른바 공천만 받으면 쉽게 당선되는 영남권과 분당 등과 같은 지역이다보니 정가의 비난이 쏟아질 수밖에 없다는 지적이다.

실제, 더불어민주당 김병욱 의원의 지역구인 분당 을만 하더라도 해볼만 하겠다는 분석에 따라 대통령실 출신 인사들이 너도나도 몰리고 있는 것으로 파악되고, 대구와 경북에서는 행정관들이 구미와 포함 지역에 집단적으로 몰리고 있다. 

구미만 하더라도 강명구, 김찬영 두 사람이 한 지역구에 동시 출마한다는 소리가 들린다. 현직을 가지고 있으면서 소문만 무성한 강 행정관에 대하여 지역 정치권 일각에서는 “지역민들에 대한 예의도 아닐뿐더러 전형적인 구태 정치 행태를 보이고 있다”고 지적하고 있다.

구미을 지역의 이 모씨(44세 여.)는 “상대적으로 나이가 다른 거론되는 후보들에 비해 젊길래 관심을 가져 봤지만 행보는 구태 그 자체”라며 “지역이나 시민들을 위한 봉사의 자세가 아닌 자신들의 입신만을 위한 정치 행보를 보이는 것 같아 급실망하고 있다”고 푸념했다. 

김 행정관은 이번이 3번째 도전이다. 지난 총선에서는 구미 을이 아닌 갑으로 출마해 의아하게 만들었다. 내년 총선에는 다시 구미 을로 나오겠다고 선언했다. 유불리에 따라 옮겨다닌다는 비판이 많다. 지난 총선에서는 백승주 의원이 불안하다하니 갑으로 출마한 듯 보인다. 이번에는 김영식 의원의 이름이 많이 회자되다 보니 다시금 을 지역으로 튀어나오는 것 같다.   두 사람 다 젊은 청년 정치인들의 창의적인 모습은 간데 없고 구태 선배 정치인들이 하던 전형적인 모습을 따라 한다는 지적이다. 

포항에는 이부형 전 행정관이 포항 북에 출마를 서두르고 있다.

홍준표 시장은 "전셋집을 자기 집이라고 착각하는 사람, 부산 지역구를 탈환해야 하는데 그걸 외면하고 분당서 출마하겠다는 사람, 각종 혜택을 다 누리고 뜬금없이 분당에 출마하겠다는 사람 등 대통령실 출신들의 착각도 이만저만이 아니다"라고 비판했지만, 이같은 비판은 분당을 출마자들뿐 아니라 대통령실에서 나와 당선 가능성이 높은 지역으로 출마하려는 다른 행정관 모두에 대한 메시지로, 혁신위가 제안한 용톼론, 중진급 험지 출마론 등과 함께 이들 행정관들 역시 공천받으면 누구나가 당선 가능한 안방 지역이 아닌 다른 어려운 지역에서 희생해야 자신들에 수은을 베푼 대통령의 어깨를 한결 가볍게 하는 길이란 지적이다.
