지난 20일, 대구 동구청에서 이종선 협의회장을 비롯한 자문위원 60여 명이 참석한 가운데 ‘자유민주주의 통일에 대한 도전과 극복 방안’을 주제로 한 회의가 진행됐다.

이날 협의회는 이정태 경북대학교 교수를 초빙해 자유민주주의 통일의 중요성 및 통일 공감대 확산 방안에 대해 함께 토론했으며, 자유민주주의 통일을 위한 민주평통의 역할 등에 대해서도 논의했다.

이종선 회장은 “러시아-우크라이나 전쟁, 미국 대선 등 급변하는 국제 정세 속에서 자유민주주의 통일의 중요성에 깊이 공감하며 자문위원님들과 함께 평화통일 기반 조성에 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.
