30일 영천시에 따르면 7월 29일부터 8월 2일까지 인도네시아 자카르타 대표팀과 국내 고등부, 대학부 유도 선수 200여 명이 영천을 방문해 영천체육관과 경북휴먼테크고등학교에서 전국체육대회와 국제 대회 준비를 위한 합동 훈련을 실시하고 있다. 선수들은 무더운 여름에도 불구하고 구슬땀을 흘리며 훈련에 매진했다.

또 8월 5일부터는 일본 육상팀 15명과 국내 실업육상팀 선수 30여 명이 영천시민운동장에서 5일간 훈련을 실시할 예정이다. 이처럼 다양한 국내외 종목의 선수들이 영천을 찾고 있다.
