13일 우리공화당 조원진 대표는 이종찬 광복회장에 대해 “1919년 건국론을 주장하며 광복절 행사까지 볼모로 잡고 있다”며 지적에 나섰다.

그는 “대통령실이 건국절을 추진하지 않는다고 확인해도 요지부동으로 광복절 행사에 불참하겠다는 이종찬 광복회장은 오히려 광복절 기념식에 참석할 자격조차 없다”고 꼬집었다.

또한 “북한과 좌파세력이 주장했던 1919년 건국론을 주장하며 1948년 8월 15일 건국을 부정하는 이종찬 광복회장은 사퇴하는 것이 맞다”며 “대한민국 건국을 부정하는 자가 바로 대한민국을 부정하는 매국노”라며 강도 높게 비판했다.

이어 “대한민국 국민은 1948년 5월 10일 자유총선거를 통해 95.5%라는 투표율로 국민의 대표자를 뽑았고 7월 17일 헌법 제정해 8월 15일 마침내 대한민국이 건국되었음을 전 세계에 알렸다”고 주장했다.

그러면서 “광복의 기쁨은 건국이 있기 때문에 가능하다”며 “대한민국 건국의 자긍심을 가진 국민들을 배신하지 말라”고 덧붙였다.
