이날 민주당 대구시당은 기자회견을 통해  “홍준표 대구시장이 불법, 무단으로 표지석을 설치했다”고 주장했다.

이들은 “동대구역 부지는 국토부 소유의 국유지이며 실질적 관리는 국가철도공단에서 하고 있다”며 “대구시가 지난 2007년 국가철도공단(당시 철도시설공단)과 체결한 협약서에 대구시는 유지, 관리만 하게 되어있다”고 설명했다.

그러면서 “대구시는 표지석과 같은 영구시설물을 설치하면서 국유지 소유자인 국토부와 국가철도공단에는 어떤 협의도 하지 않고 임의로 설치했다”고 덧붙였다.

이날 민주당 대구시당은 홍준표 대구시장을 국유재산법 제7조 국유재산의 보호 및 제18조 영구시설물의 축조 금지 위반에 따라 제82조 벌칙조항으로 처벌해달라는 고발장을 대구지검에 제출했다.

그러나 대구시는 “반박할 가치가 없는 주장이다”며 “동대구역 광장에 벤치 같은 주민 편의시설물이나 다른 조형물은 모두 대구시가 설치‧관리했지만 한 번도 문제된 적이 없다”고 말했다.
