【브레이크뉴스 문경】이성현 기자=문경시는 지난 8월 17일 문경새재 일원에서 진행된 문경새재 맨발페스티벌이 다채롭고 새로운 행사로 문경새재도립공원 일대를 뜨겁게 달구며 막을 내렸다고 19일 밝혔다.

이번행사는 9시 30분 개막식을 시작으로 제1관문(주흘관)과 제2관문(조곡관)을 거쳐 제3관문(조령관)을 돌아오는 황토 흙길 코스 왕복 13㎞를 맨발로 걸었으며, 2관문에서 진행된 숲속 음악회를 비롯하여 뒤이어 진행된 야외 공연에서는 일반인과 인기가수가 축제장 분위기를 한껏 끌어올렸다.

이날 행사장에서는 문경시민의 간절한 염원인 제2중앙경찰학교 유치를 위한 열기로 뜨거웠다. 경찰청에서 늘어나는 교육수요에 비해 현재 충주에 위치한 중앙경찰학교가 포화 상태에 이른 것으로 판단, 전국 단위로 공모해 문경시를 비롯한 전국 40여 개의 지자체가 공모에 신청하였으며, 10월 현장 실사에 이어 11월 최종 선정할 계획이다.

범시민 서명운동과 더불어 유치 염원 퍼포먼스에 많은 방문객들이 함께하였으며, 제2중앙경찰학교 문경 건립을 통해 국가균형발전에 이바지하고 경찰과 문경시 상호발전의 계기가 될 수 있기를 간절한 마음으로 염원했다.

신현국 문경시장은 “경찰은 문경시민을 지키고 문경시민은 경찰을 지킨다.”며, “문경시민들의 간절한 염원으로 제2중앙경찰학교를 꼭 유치하여 경찰의 자긍심을 고취하고 경찰과 국민이 하나되는 화합의 장을 만들겠다.”고 전했다.
