【브레이크뉴스 구미】이성현 기자=구미시를 비롯한 경상북도 4개 시군(경산, 문경, 예천, 칠곡)에서 오는 25일부터 31일까지 7일간 한중일 3개국 청소년들이 스포츠를 통해 기량을 겨루고 우정을 나누는 ‘제32회 한중일 주니어 종합경기대회’를 개최된다.

구미시에 따르면 이번 대회에서는 한국, 중국, 일본 3개국의 18세 이하 고등학생 선수 및 임원 1,000여 명이 참가해 11개 종목에서 치열한 경쟁을 펼친다.

한중일 3개국과 경북 대표팀 등 4개 선수단은 국제경기연맹의 규칙에 따라 경기를 진행하되, 채점과 순위, 연장전 없이 청소년들 간 우호를 다지는 친선경기 형식으로 진행된다.

개회식은 26일 오후 4시 구미 문화예술회관 대공연장에서 열리며, 29일에는 선수들의 장기 자랑과 친교의 시간이 마련되어 있어, 각국 선수들이 더욱 가까워질 수 있는 특별한 순간이 될 것이다.

특히 중·일 선수단 500여 명이 성리학역사관 및 삼성, 농심 공장 투어를 통해 구미의 문화와 산업시설을 탐방한다. 이를 통해 선수들에게 구미의 아름다운 자연과 역사적 유산을 경험할 수 있는 기회를 제공할 예정이다.

시는 이번 대회를 통해 글로벌 스포츠 도시로서의 위상 제고와 지역 경제 활성화라는 두 마리 토끼를 모두 잡기 위해 철저한 준비에 나섰다.
